30 blogs entries in 30 days!

Sooooooo it's a well established fact that I'm really bad at blogging. I don't know if it's that I think my life isn't exciting enough for a blog or what. But for whatever reason, I just don't post on here very frequently. The crazy thing is that I'll read my friend's blogs though! Anyway, I was checking out the blogs today and I came across a pretty cool post by Kaycie...and I decided to steal it. It's the 30 day blog challenge.

blogging fail.

I'm really bad at this. I don't know why, but I am. I'm bad at twitter and blogging. What gives? Anyway, I'm not going to offer excuses this time...or promises to do better, we'll just see how it goes.

Let's see...last post was April? Sheesh.

Welllllllllllll....I'm unemployed! It's exciting and scary at the same time. Exciting because I'm back in school full time which means I'm on a path toward doing something I like during the work week. It's also exciting because call center work was just NOT right for me. SUPER scary because those paychecks were wayyyyyy nicer than I can even say. But you know what? I feel good. Finally thing seem to be making sense and I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. And at this point, it just feels good to feel like I'm making progress again.

I got home on Tuesday night after working 3 weeks of EFY. Amazing. I feel like I may have to dedicate an entire post to EFY tomorrow because a short wrap up wouldn't do it justice.

So here's what we'll do. Sleep, run some errands and then catch things up with an EFY entry. Sound good? Good.

Cha-cha-cha-changes

I've said it before, but this time I'm really going to try to be better about this whole blogging deal. I used to think that my life wasn't interesting enough for one of these. Now it's too interesting...well, maybe not interesting, just busy.

Since we were last together:

1. I started grad school. Yes, finally. Things have been busy as I'm still employed full time at AFLAC and still currently have three church callings (TWO stake!) but it's really awesome to have direction and feel like I'm progressing.

2. I moved up with my Sunbeams! I love those kids so much and I guess the Primary Presidency could see that. So I'm with the same kids only now they're CTR 4s. They're too cute and way amazing. I learn a lot from them. Things are so simple and so clear in their minds. It's refreshing.

3. I bought a car. If a Chevy Aveo actually counts as a car. I dunno, it might be a car when it grows up. On the real though, it's mine. And it's cute. And I do love it. But it's still nameless. Any suggestions?

4. I got hired for EFY again!! Are there even words for how excited I am about this? I don't think so. Last summer was such a wonderful experience. I'm pretty much counting down to spending 3 weeks with amazing counselors and incredible youth.

5. I decided to move on. I don't know how much detail I want to go into on this one. Mostly to protect the (not so) innocent. But what it really comes down to is realizing a bad situation and making the hard decision to remove yourself from it. It's sad and hard, but necessary and I think will be better for me in the long run. (This will make more sense to some than others, sorry if you don't get it.)

That's about it for now, I think. But really, I'll be back soon. I promise. For real this time. :)

Long overdue...

It's literally taken me a year to figure out how I wanted to do this post. And after a year I'm still not sure...

It's funny how sometimes our thoughts of what we want and Heavenly Father's knowledge of what we need don't quite match up. If you're reading this then you know (at least because you read the previous entries) that last I updated I was finally getting out of Columbus and headed to live 2 exciting years with my best friend in NYC (to attend film school). Sounds super cool, right? The bad news: I wasn't there a week before things started falling apart. And in what was a very hard decision...I came back to Columbus. I've spent a year working for AFLAC and trying to find the purpose of it all.

I've come to realize a few things:

1. The Lord knows best. Trust Him. Even when it's hard...no, wait...ESPECIALLY when it's hard. When things don't make sense is the perfect time to believe.

2. Sometimes there isn't one greater purpose. Don't get caught up looking for the big things and miss all the little ones.

3. Sometimes you have to struggle for a while before you find the answer. And in my case, it's probably that I needed to be humbled a good bit before I'm ready to accept the answer.

4. It's not always a choice between good and bad...sometimes it's between good and better.

5. 3- and 4-year olds have all the answers.

6. God is mindful of each of us individually every single day.

I want to go into detail about what happened in NY and the stories that come with it, but I needed one post to break the ice. It's been a long year. A hard year. And somehow, looking back, an exciting year. There were a lot of struggles and challenges but a lot of learning that took place as well. I'll try to write tomorrow and fill in the gaps.

Delayed.

Yeah, so...apparently there was a storm in New York this morning which has caused chaos at LaGuardia. Translation?

My flight that was supposed to have me IN New York at 3:40pm now doesn't even leave ATL until 4:15. Meaning I'm sitting in the airport until then. Interestingly enough, I'm not irritated. If I had something I had to be there for TODAY then I probably would be but, since I don't. I'll just sit....and wait. And hope people call and text me. :D

edited at 3:32pm: Still here. And now not leaving until 7:17pm. **Sigh**

Leavin' on a jet plane...

Soooooooo...it's my last night in Columbus. I'm packed...for the most part. All the big stuff (as in things that will need to be shipped or driven up) is in boxes. I saved packing my suitcase for last. Mostly because I considered that easiest. I'm taking clothes enough for 3 weeks basically. Which does sound like a lot. Except I'm not allowing it to be. Especially with the cost for extra bags on the plane. 2 checked bags and my carryon. That's all. For 3 weeks. *sigh*

Today was harder than I thought it would be. When I got to church, Brother Rose, a counselor in the bishopric asked me if I'd share my testimony later in the meeting "just like...2 minutes" he said. I agreed. As I'm about a minute in to my 2 minute testimony I feel a hand on my shoulder and it's Brother Rose who whispers to me "Can you go until 20 'til?" I look at the clock. 11:30. Suddenly my 2 minute testimony has become a 12 minute one. I somehow filled the 12 minutes, but I feel like it wasn't the most logical sounding thing. What can you do?

Anyway, I'm going to breakfast with the family before the kids get off to school, then Mom and Dad will leave for work. Tristan is taking me to the airport and he's picking me up at the house at 9. The flight's out of ATL at 1:30 which puts me on the ground at 3:30. And there you have it! Wish me luck!!!

Failure.

See? This is a perfect example of why I don't blog. Failure in less than a month. It's been about 6 weeks since the last post, which means there's some catching up to do...

1. I bought a plane ticket and gave my notice at work!

My last day at the office is the 31st of this month, and then I've got 10 days to get things square (and possibly take a mini-vacay with the fam?) before I'm on a plane to NY on the 11th! :D SO exciting, yet becoming increasingly scary as the days pass...

2. Jon extended his mission.

He'll be home Sept. 30th now instead of Sept. 2nd. It's what he wanted and it makes me feel better about leaving. Before, I was going to feel bad if I didn't come home when he came home (classes start on the 4th), but now classes will be in full swing and hopefully I'll have a job (and an internship? maybe?). I'm currently trying to convince him to come to NY to see me before he settles in to adult-get-a-job-get-in-school-get-married-and-have-babies post-missionary-ness. We'll see.

3. I passed my exit assessment.

The final nail in the CSU coffin. My exit presentation and department interview...OVER. Good riddance.

4. I started packing.

One word, though I don't even think it's actually a word: Ugh.

I'm headed to Lagrange in the morning. I'm taking senior pictures for Morgan, then spending the night up there, hittin' church and then headin' back to c-town Sunday evening. On that note, I'm gonna do some laundry and get back to packing/cleaning the room. See ya (hopefully in less than 6 weeks!)
